Have you seen it yet??? It's AMAZING!!!!!!!

So, many many moons ago I was on Facebook.  I didn't like it :)  Way too much information.

Then, not too very long ago, I created an account on Instagram.  My kiddos are there so I had to...I have to make sure that they (and their friends) are being "good".  (It's a mom thing.)  Well, I started following most of the card-makers whose blogs I follow and it got me to thinking.  Long story short...I'm back on Facebook.

While I am on Facebook one evening I come across a group....Journaling Bible Community.  Can I just say...WOW!!!  I fell in love instantly.  What an amazing group and what talent!!!  My heart is overflowing.  If you are so inclined, you should check it out.

I have not purchased a 'journaling bible' however, I did purchase the
Noteworthy New Testament'.  Here is a picture of it:

On the inside it is broken down into sections for study.  After each study there is room for notes.  After 7 days, there is an entire page (lined) for notes as well.  I started on Luke...for no reason in particular...and I am getting into the word like never before!  As I read, I compare versions....this is NKJV.  I check the NLV, NIV, ESV and The Message.  All the while, I am looking forward to making what I am learning JUMP out on the page.  I have tracing paper and lots of project life cards so lots of things are being added...with the help of washi tape, the inside looks me anyway :)  It's like scrapbooking in my bible but instead of pictures of people, I am showcasing thoughts and messages.  I can't draw AT ALL but with the help of free digital stamps, pinterest and google, I am getting by.  Here are a few pics of the inside:

These next 2 tracing paper is open and closed so you can see how it works in there.

Anyway - that's what I've been doing in my spare (HA HA) time as of late.  What about you?  Anything exciting going on?

All is well here.  I only have one Volleyball player in the family now :(  Super sad but it's all o.k.  When one door closes, another opens.

Take care and I'll be back with more pages soon :)

Happy it's a new week....

Last week was a tough one.....I cannot tell a lie :)

This bible verse's Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

I hope to get some open items resolved this week.
I hope not to embarrass my children at the volleyball games...this week and forever :)  I do tend to get a little too enthusiastic.  I know that surprises those of you that know me.....**WINK**WINK**
I hope my girls learn something new at school.
I hope I exemplify the proper child of God...the child I am required to be.
I hope I do enough to be deserving of ANY thing I am blessed to have.
I hope to make someone smile.
I hope to learn something new.
I hope to have the opportunity to encourage someone.
I hope my BFF has a fabulous birthday week.

What can I hope for you?

Get to know me better......

If you don't already know, I work for a bank and each month, within the division of the bank I work, they choose am employee to "spotlight".  In my division, we have offices all over the US, in Canada and in the UK.  Because we are so spread out, this spotlight is a way for everyone to get to know a little bit about the people we work with.  I was chosen as the spotlight employee for August.  I was given a list of questions to answer and it was all published on the company's web-site.  I thought I would share that here as well so that you can get to know me a little better as well.

What do you do at PNC Business Credit ?
I maintain production and compliance reporting for the Field Exam Group.  My reporting is compiled monthly and quarterly for purposes within our group and for Senior Management and the OCC.  I also maintain some reporting for Underwriting.

How long have you been with the bank?
I became a PNC employee as a result of the National Bank of Canada acquisition.  In November of this year I will celebrate my 15 year anniversary.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Business Credit?
Well, honestly, that I get to work from home.  I've been working from home since November 1999.   I have been in this line of business since the late 80's when I went to work for Congress Financial and I absolutely love it.  With the growth of technology and my work ethic - along with the willingness of BC management - I am afforded the opportunity and the fortune of loving what I do AND where I get to do it.

What do you think is the PNC Business Credit culture?
I think having worked remote for all of these years leaves me at a disadvantage with regards to knowing our of very few downfalls of working remote.

If you can switch places for one day only with someone at PNC, who and why?
I'm not sure specifically who since I don't know that many people but I would have to say it would be with someone in Underwriting.  I spent many years on the Operations side and many years in field exam.  It would be exciting to work on putting a deal together.

What was your first job?
My first job was as a shipping and receiving clerk at Hewlett Packard in Atlanta.  It was an awesome job that I started before my senior year of high school.  I went to school for half a day and went to work the other half.  I met so many amazing people...I'll never forget them.

If you could have any job in the world, what job would that be and why?
Judge Judy!  Seriously though, I wish I had gone to law school.  I would love to be a prosecutor in a big city...fighting for justice and righting wrongs one case at a time.

What is your favorite vacation spot and/or would like to go to one day?
NYC!!!!  It is by far my most favorite place.  If I were loaded, I'd go there every Spring and Fall and shop till I drop!  But....we recently spent our vacation out west and I absolutely fell in love with Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  I could see myself living there long as I could visit NYC on occasion of course.

If given the opportunity to make one change in the “world”, what would that be?
I would rid the world of hate.  I think hate leads to so many problems...if we could all just accept each other regardless of our differences we might find peace in even the most violent of nations.

If you had to describe yourself in about 2 sentences……
I am blessed beyond measure and strive each day to live a life that is deserving of all that I have.  I am alive, I am blessed and I am grateful.

Most proud professional or personal moment.
Definitely graduating from college.  I worked full time while attending school...going when I could afford it.  It took a while (12 years - can you imagine??) but I made it!!!!!

What makes you unique?
Well, I think I am the only employee within the entire PNC footprint that lives/works in the state of Tennessee.  If there are others, I am unaware of them.

If you had the opportunity, who would you thank?
Peter Thompson and Michael Wagner....They both came to Charlotte to conduct interviews with National Bank of Canada employees in consideration of employment with PNC.  At that time, my job was very specific, I was working from home and I just had a baby!  I was a wreck and worried I was going to need to find a new job...soon.  However, they were interested enough in what I was doing at the time to allow me the opportunity to perform that same duty for PNC.  My prayers had been answered :)  I am beyond appreciative to both of them and the opportunity they presented to me.  While my duties have evolved immensely over the years, I absolutely love my job and look forward to getting things done every day.  Thank you both!!

If you had an autobiography, what would be the name of the book?
Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful...
I love this life I am living.  Along this journey of my life I have found that I have everything I need and...strive each day to be less like Martha and more like Mary.

Your all time favorite movie or TV show.
Seinfeld, hands down......a show about nothing :)  So entertaining and the best 30 minutes of mindlessness, if you're a person who thinks too much.  I love funny!

If you could live in a country for a year other than the USA, where and why?
My father's family came to the U.S. from Ireland.  I would love to spend some time there and see where my family comes from.  I've seen pictures of the town with our name and know that there is a castle there with our family name as well.  Once I saw the castle, I asked if we descended from royalty and unfortunately, the answer was no and quickly followed by, "We descended from a family of thieves."  YIKES!!!!  Sometimes it doesn't pay to be inquisitive :)

Giving back to the community or rewarding volunteer activity.
For the past 5 years I have served in some capacity at my daughter's school as the PTA Treasurer / President.  It was a wonderful, busy, challenging time and I enjoyed it very  much.  All of the success of our efforts was very rewarding.  I coached cheerleading for 3 years in our community and am active in my church.  I am now about to begin volunteering at the Cancer Center where I received my treatment and I love to crochet scarves for patients there.

People might not know......
I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in August of last year.  With wonderful (and aggressive) doctors that took great care of me, a little surgery, chemotherapy and radiation (throw in lots of prayer and faith too) - I am currently cancer free!!  I began losing my hair after my 2nd treatment and went ahead and bit the bullet...I had my head shaved...Yep!  Right there at the salon in front of the whole world (as it seemed to me that day).  The lady doing the shaving kept asking if I was ok.  I assured her I was fine and that it was only hair - and let me tell you, I had a lot of hair!  I had decided I would try a wig...why not right?...I went with RED hair!!!!  It was fun wearing it although I didn't wear it very often.  It really wasn't me and I felt silly really.  My kids hated it!  I must say now, I'm so happy to have my hair growing back.  It's short - and gray - but it's coming back.

I love to craft.  Card-making is my most favorite hobby.  Prior to being diagnosed, I started a blog ( to share my crafts.  My blog eventually became a way for me to keep friends and family updated and informed about what was happening with me after the diagnosis and while I was in treatment.  I still post my creations there from time to time.  I wish I had more time to devote to it - crafting and the blog.  It's fun to create something that I can share with others.
Fun Facts
I have 2 daughters - Katy (13) and Emily (11) - they both play volleyball and my husband and I love to get out there and play with them.  We love to visit family, ride bikes and hike (although I prefer to "stroll" through a meadow).  We live in Northeast Tennessee - in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains - where there are tons of amazing outdoor activities.  We are all big football fans as well and LOVE watching the Falcons play (I have other favorites too including the Steelers (my parents are from Greensburg, PA), and the Mannings..HA!).  Any time we spend together as a family is the BEST time!

Let's Catch up!!!!

March 25th??  Seriously???

I have NO idea where the time goes.  I can't believe it's been THAT long since I posted here!!!!!!  Sorry and Good Grief :)

So....hope you have all been well.  We made it through the summer without trouble.  Praise the Lord!  Girls did get bored from time to time, but hey...That's Life.  Get over it :)  HA!!!!  July was non-stop motion with camps and this and that.  It flew by in a simple "blink of an eye".

Girls went back to school on August 4th.  Volleyball started right away...practice anyway.  Games started last week.  Varsity (Katy) has won both games so far and JV (Emily) is 1-1.  They all look good and I am anticipating a great season.

My wonderful hubby has decided to close his business and go to work for someone else.  It's a HUGE move as he has been self-employed since we moved to TN in 1999.  He has been very successful, but the stress of it all never gets any easier.  It's time to make a he did :)  Just like that :)  He's gonna do great.  He is driven and disciplined.  The company he will be working for will be lucky to have him!

We've had some health scares in the family as of late.....and with friends.  This is the "bad news" section of my update........We had a scare with my dad a while back.  One health issue remains a concern while the other...praise God...turned out to be nothing :)  We continue to pray that things remain minimal and non-threatening!!!!  Then my very best GF found out her father has aggressive prostate cancer AND to top it off, while going through all of his medical testing for the "C", we found out his heart is a mess.  They can't address the "C" until they get his heart in order.  It's a very scary time and living so far away makes you feel helpless.  I have another dear friend who's father had a mass removed and got the "C" diagnosis as well just this past week.  They will be traveling to Vanderbilt for further diagnosis and status.  PLEASE.....keep these 3 men in your prayers.

My heath remains good.  My next scan is in November.  One spot remains that doctors are keeping an eye on.  No change thus far however, so no worries as of now.  I feel good...still not my "normal", motivated, get it done way of feeling...I prefer more of, "let's watch TV and relax" as of late :)  Whatever it is....I'm just happy to be well and getting stronger each and every day.  Looking forward to making a few more things and getting them posted.  I did get some flip-flops decorated earlier in the summer.  I'll post a couple pics here.

Fingers crossed....I'll try my BEST to post more often...maybe at least once a week!!!

Sticks and Stones.......

....remember saying that as a kid.....or yesterday?  LOL!  I remember.  I still say it today!  We started a new Bible study lesson to coincide with Sunday morning service....Soul Detox: Clean living in a contaminated world.  Session Number 1: LETHAL LANGUAGE!!!!!  Uh Oh!

Let me preface what I am about to say by letting you know I'm not an "Oprah" watcher or "Dr. Phil" or whatever other show there might be now....but there was a time when I caught a Dr. Phil episode and I will never forget what he said.  He was talking to parents and how they talk/interact with their children.  One father (I think it was) was in the hot seat because he spoke down to his son.  He always had negative things to say....when are you ever going to - whatever, why can't you - whatever, you're lazy, etc.  Dr. Phil made it very clear to his guests that day that it takes a thousand "at'ta boy" and "I love you" to even squash one of these negative comments.  He further went on to say that he would always tell his sons (I hope I am remembering this right!!) I'm the luckiest dad in the world - of all the people in this world that could have been your dad, God chose me. Isn't that AWESOME!!!!  I tell my girls that often!  They are everything to me :)

But I digress....So in session one, the author (Craig Groeschel) points out the following scripture:

Proverbs 18:21     The tongue has the power of life and death.

He goes on to note that the Bible conveys that there are life-giving words and toxic words:

Proverbs 12:18     Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 4:23     The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

The author takes a moment to let us know that we should speak life-giving words every chance we get.  Anytime we think something positive, we should say it.  He writes, "Why rob someone of a blessing by keeping a positive statement to yourself?"  I love that!!!!!  It makes me think of my dad.  He always had/has something nice to say to me.....telling me how pretty I looked even when I undoubtedly looked my worse.  Even in the midst of cancer and no hair...he was always telling me - and continues to tell me - that I look beautiful :)  A lot of people did.....all of them speaking Life-Giving words to me.  Blessings....all of them!

A couple more verses to consider:

Proverbs 16:24     Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Proverbs 25:11     The right word at the right time is like precious gold set in silver.

I LOVE that one and believe it is so very true.  So......say something nice to someone...often.  Make it a daily goal.  Don't just think it....speak it!

On a separate note, I'm taking the girls to Washington D.C. this weekend for the start of Spring Break.  Fingers crossed that this is the last batch of snow!  It snowed here last night and off and on all of today!  It's crazy!

I've made a lot of cards lately too but I keep mailing them without taking pictures.  LOL!  I can't think of everything ya know:)  HA!!!!!  Oh well............

March 6, 2014

So I went to my OB GYN fun...seems as though I might be menopausal.  He says chemo does that.  YAY!!!!  Yet another wonderful side effect of the "C" word!  Good grief!  I already feel 20 years older......does my body have to be 20 years older too????  I realize I'm no spring chicken but come on!!

Oh well....menopause?  Cancer?  I think I'll take menopause!!!!!   HA!

Not feeling too good here as of late.  Extremely tired, no motivation........totally the opposite of "me".............the "me" I used to be and the "me" I want back.  Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon?  Once I hear no sign of disease I think I'm all done and everything goes back to normal.  I guess that's just not the case.  Maybe in time though....I hope so.  Things have to be better than this!!!!

I think it's time to get crafty!!!!!  That cures everything that ails ya!
